Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
W has been living in one of our supported properties for approximately one year; he engages well with our service and is regularly in employment, but has fallen on hard times as his employer needed to downsize and he lost his job. W is now claiming Universal Credit, so is finding it difficult to pay for everything that he needs. He recently lost his smartphone which he needs to access his Universal Credit journal and his recruitment apps.

Total needed £80P, a single mum from India with two teenage children, has recently had to move into a new home and has no furniture. The entire family is currently sleeping on the floor and, as the weather turns colder, this will be increasingly uncomfortable. This lovely lady has worked very hard to further her education and find work, but the cost of moving has left her without the resources to furnish her children's room. P would be very grateful for any help received to make her children more comfortable

Total needed £150M, an asylum seeker who has now been granted his right to remain, was sleeping on a friend's kitchen floor before being referred to our supported accommodation. He has progressed well to the point he is at now, moving into his own flat. This support with a bedroom carpet would help M make his house a home and help to keep it warm.

Total needed £200This family of five, with three primary school age children, is in great need of a freezer to help provide healthy meals for the growing family. Mum is struggling to cope in these difficult times, and a freezer would help greatly so she can buy affordable healthy food. Their oldest child has severe learning difficulties and dad is a student from abroad. We are giving ongoing support to the family as they settle in the area and plan to stay long-term. They much appreciate any support given. Thank you.

Total needed £130Safe Families are supporting a family of four who are in need of a new tumble dryer. Due to their twelve year old son's complex needs, the parents are having to prioritise replacing items in the home that he has unfortunately damaged. This means they cannot afford to replace the broken tumble dryer. As the weather is getting colder, it is not always possible to line dry the washing, so currently their neighbours are helping to dry clothes in their dryers, but this is not a sustainable option.

Total needed £200B, who has been out of jail for three months and is sofa surfing, is working on her relationship with her children and is walking two hours each way to see them on a Saturday and Sunday. She would love to have a bike, and Acts 435 did provide a bike for this applicant a few years ago, but all her belongings were lost when she went to prison. A bike would make it much easier to see the children, and there is a local bike hub who could provide one for £100.

Total needed £100Our applicant, whose son died of suspected suicide recently, receives a state pension which makes it difficult to be able to afford items other than basic essentials. They are currently in need of a new fridge freezer as theirs is very old and in poor condition. To have a fridge freezer that is reliable and in good working order would be a relief, eliminating additional worry and anxiety.

Total needed £150IG, who has fallen on hard times, has mobility issues and, due to little contact with community, friends or family, faces isolation and struggles daily. A regular at our Newcastle centre, he comes for company, warmth, food and support. Often forced to choose between food and energy, IG would greatly benefit from an air-fryer. At £50, this appliance would let him cook meals affordably, using less energy than an oven. Your help would bring warmth, dignity and hope to IG during this challenging time.

Total needed £200A has been in recovery from alcohol dependency for twelve months and is doing really well rebuilding his life. He tells me that he had to leave the recovery home a month early, as his wife moved on to another man and left two teenage boys to fend for themselves. The home they are living is in desperate need of decorating, so it would be lovely if we could help him with funds to decorate a room, as he is trying so hard to make a home for the three of them to live in.
