Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

L is a single mother living in rented accommodation currently claiming Universal Credit, Child Benefit and Carers Allowance. She has recently come out of a domestic violence relationship where she was severely abused. L is a full time carer for her dad and she needs to be available for him at all hours. She has moved into a new property with nothing and needs help with a fridge freezer so she can store some food so she doesn't have to go shopping at expensive local stores everyday.

Total needed £200K fled from domestic violence, leaving everything behind. She has been in temporary accommodation but has now been given her own flat, but it is completely empty. She has been able to get furniture second hand, but not any carpet. As she is on benefits and a tight budget she cannot see herself getting any carpet for some time. She would love to be able to make the main room a comfortable warm space by having a carpet. Any help you can give would be gratefully received.

Total needed £200This family have just moved into new accommodation. C is a lone parent who is living with her two young children and receiving Universal Credit and Child Benefit. She had to flee her family home, due to domestic abuse, and moved temporarily into a single room in a hotel, but has now secured permanent accommodation. At this stressful time, C would greatly benefit from some donations towards bedroom furniture, namely three chests of drawers and two pairs of curtains, to help make a home for her children.

Total needed £200This young lady, who has fled domestic abuse, had to leave with just the clothes she was wearing and nothing else. She has no money, as her partner controlled all her money, and is waiting for a benefit review. This young lady is now in a safe place to heal and recover, but is in need of warm winter clothes and basic toiletries. The Refuge will help her to buy these things with your gift to her. She is very grateful and finds it incredible that strangers want to help her.

Total needed £120L, who works with our debt centre and got into debt in a domestic abusive relationship, is making payments, but her income is very low. She has anxiety and suffers from chronic pain as her spine is disintegrating. L had a shower fitted into her social housing house a few years ago, as she can't get in and out of the bath. As she fitted it herself, there is nobody to help now that it is broken. L is having to clean herself stood up at the sink, and it would take her months to save the money needed to have it replaced.

Total needed £145S has been in her home for six months now and in order to finish her flat off, she would love to get flooring for her bedroom, and materials to decorate and brighten her home. Previous support has made her home so much more liveable than it was and she has shown great resilience for a young woman who is setting up home, recovering from an abusive relationship and adjusting to a new culture. S is proactive and continues to meet with our counsellor to improve her language skills, building her confidence step by step.

Total needed £145Support is needed for this single mother and her young daughter after surviving and fleeing domestic abuse. This client is making huge steps towards her future independence and is currently renovating her new home. Your support will provide her with the finance she needs to hire a professional to install her bathroom floor, having undertaken a lot of the maintenance work herself. Please would you help lighten her burden in creating a safe and welcoming home for her and her daughter to start-over?

Total needed £100A has suffered domestic violence and is now on her own, caring for her four children. A dishwasher might seem like a luxury, but with the size of the household, it can both save time and ease the emotional stress that goes with trying to cope with a frightening situation. The cost of repairing A's existing dishwasher makes it more sensible to find a replacement. A says that to have a working unit again would be a great relief.

Total needed £200My client, who is receiving counselling and practical support from the Sue Lambert Trust, has physical health needs which prevent her from being able to use a bath. Her shower has broken so she is struggling to find an alternative to keep clean, which she is finding very distressing. We have sourced a tap attached, long cord shower set and some slip mats to keep her safe. This would mean my client retains her independence and her dignity. Any support with this would be gratefully received.

Total needed £70This lady, who was referred to us by a social worker, has fled from domestic violence and is a single mum trying to care for her four children, one of whom has complex additional needs. Mum has tried really hard to furnish her home by using free sites or buying items second-hand, but as she is on benefits, she is unable to afford a carpet for her living room. This lady has, however, saved £45 which she is able to contribute.
