Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

This lady came to the St Vincent de Paul centre after failing her weekly rehabilitation test for alcohol consumption. She was immediately expelled and given conditions to return the following week if she passes the test and remains clean to continue her rehabilitation. Believing in the importance of rehabilitation, we are reaching out for help to provide temporary housing for this young lady for four nights, away from the streets and temptation, to support her in staying clean and restarting her journey to recovery.

Total needed £200R has been living in shared accommodation for over seven years after splitting from his family. This was problematic, as his ten year old son could never stay with him, due to the risk posed by the other tenants. R has now been given his first home by Birmingham City Council, which means he can have his son to stay with him at weekends. However, he does not have a cooker. R would like to apply for donations from Acts 435 to buy a cooker so that he can cook meals for himself and his son, when he stays.

Total needed £200Our client was living with his family until August 2022 when the relationship broke down. He then slept on the sofa at his brother's house, but after his brother died, he was asked to leave. Our client began riding the 53 bus and was picked up by Streetlink at Elephant and Castle. He was taken to St Mungo's and then put in temporary accommodation by Lewisham's rough sleepers team. Our client has finally been placed in permanent housing and would be so grateful for a fridge freezer, which he cannot afford as he is on Universal Credit.

Total needed £200M and her children were living with her family, but fled their home, due to familial conflict and honour-based abuse. They were staying in temporary accommodation, but have now secured more permanent housing. They don't have a washing machine, which means keeping their clothing and bedding clean, and involves regular time-consuming and costly trips to the launderette. M is already struggling financially, as the sole carer for her children, and living independently for the first time.

Total needed £200F and her husband were asylum seekers who have recently been granted leave to remain. This means they have to leave their temporary accommodation immediately. They have secured a Social Housing flat, but it is unfurnished. F and her husband have been supported with a bed and cooker, but there is no washing machine. F has extreme obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) so not being able to keep her clothes and bedding clean is particularly difficult. As asylum seekers, they weren't allowed to work, so they have very little financially.

Total needed £200A, who is a single mum of four children, has left her home and town, due to fleeing domestic, and moved to a completely knew area. She has used all the money she had, plus all her savings, to help them settle in the new town.
