£0 remaining for diabetic food supplements
This elderly asylum seeker, who has been in the UK for nearly twenty years, needs assistance with a fresh asylum claim (following a refusal), secure housing and transport costs. He relies upon a family friend for temporary accommodation and has no recourse to public funds. This gentleman needs to contribute to the cost of a specific diet, due to diabetes, in order to maintain health and ensure ongoing relationships with the host. In his mid sixties, this support would provide some stability and reassurance in the short term.
I am working with a disadvantaged woman who has experienced domestic abuse and is now trying to recover in the UK whilst seeking asylum. She is on a very low income, currently having no recourse to public funds, but is trying extremely hard to get back onto her feet; she is very proactive and wants to get back into study and work. This woman currently needs a smart phone which will enable her to stay connected, keep in touch with her support network, use emails and keep track of and apply for jobs.
D is currently undergoing cancer treatment which is very tough and leaving her feeling very low. She was only claiming Universal Credit so is finding it difficult to make ends meet, due to the significant costs of travel to the hospital and increased food costs. D's Personal Independence Payment disability benefit claim is now being assessed. She has a teenage daughter who is living with her grandmother, but often comes round. D has lived in the property for a few years, but the bedroom flooring is in very poor condition.
N lost her job before Christmas and got behind in her household bills due to unemployment, which impacted her mental health. Her daughter has also been struggling in school which has added additional stress and pressure, leading to a breakdown. She has reached out to her local Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre, but is still struggling to manage her bills and day to day costs. She desperately needs some help towards her daughter's school uniform and would be very grateful for any support.
