Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
L is father of a 14 month old boy, and is expecting a baby daughter with his partner on New Year’s Eve. Their only household income is Universal Credit. Their flat is provided by the council and has suffered damp and mould problems which has affected their furniture, including beds and carpets. They are worried about the living room carpet, which now needs replacing for safety reasons, particularly ahead of the arrival of the new baby. Any contributions to a new carpet would be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £160E is a Christians Against Poverty client who had to live in a refuge with her eight year old son because of domestic abuse. She has now moved into a council flat and needs a bed, mattress and bookcase for her son. E has not found work yet and so money is very tight. I have been able to find second-hand items. Please can you help? Many thanks.

Total needed £200M and her husband are working with us after falling into debt, due to ill health and being unable to work. M, who is a vulnerable adult, would like to get a passport so that she has some up to date and valid ID for a new bank account. Total needed £100This client suffers from extreme anxiety and Asperger's Syndrome, and has been living in a mental health rehabilitation project for the past two years. He is now ready to move on and has been offered an unfurnished council tenancy. This client has never lived independently before and has no household goods to help equip his new home. He works for a charity part-time and his low wage will not meet the cost of the items needed. Your help towards the cost of a fridge freezer would be very much appreciated.

Total needed £200C, who has been street homeless since 2019, came to us for support finding some warm clothing and food now that the weather is turning colder. We have been able to get some items donated from a local charity, however, he has very few items of clothing and they are very worn. C has no cooking facilities and no income so struggles to access food and is very malnourished. We are supporting him to find emergency housing, claim Universal Credit and to find work as this is his long term aim.

Total needed £200Our client, M, who was evicted under Section 21, a no-fault eviction, has been moved by the council into a property that has no carpets. M. who is disabled, also suffers from arthritis and the cold is making her condition more painful. A carpet would make her home warmer and more comfortable.

Total needed £200Our client, who suffers from autism, is trying to make a fresh start in a new property after moving from the tenancy where her partner died to suicide. She has moved from a furnished to an unfurnished rental and is unable to meet the cost of setting up her new home. Our client is unable to work, due to her health, and is reliant upon Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment. This leaves her little after essential outgoings. Could you please help towards the cost of a fridge freezer?

Total needed £200This gentleman has lived in temporary supported accommodation for two and a half years. Before this he was sleeping rough in doorways for a long time after a mental breakdown. He has worked hard to get to the point where he is ready to have his own accommodation, including most recently being gifted a little dog to care for, which has given him more confidence. This gentleman is moving into his own flat and is in need of a fridge freezer.

Total needed £200S is a single parent with a four year old child whose current washing machine has broken down. She is on Universal Credit, has no savings and has lots of debts. Following advice from Step Change, some of her benefit is taken to repay debts to various agencies. This is, therefore, reducing her available money to purchase a replacement machine. Any contribution to this much needed washer would be gratefully received. Thank you.
