Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

Our charity is currently supporting a gentleman who is suffering from mental and physical health issues and is currently receiving treatment for cancer. He is awaiting a benefit review and is being assisted by a benefit advice agency with this. He is unable to work due to his illness and is struggling financially to afford heating oil. Any support to purchase oil would be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £150G is about to be discharged from hospital and has nowhere to go. His relationship has broken down and he has been evicted from his home. We are hoping the Council will be able to house him in temporary accommodation as soon as possible. Citizens Advice are doing what they can to help as he has a number of debts and has just been hit with a huge tax bill, so has no money to buy food. Could you please consider supporting this gentleman with a voucher towards food, drink and toiletries? Thank you.

Total needed £200This young person was refused asylum, but the Home Office sent a decision to the wrong address and whilst we are supporting him to appeal, he is now homeless and struggling financially as he lost the support he was receiving from the Home Office. This young person needs support to buy a monthly bus travel pass so he can travel to us to resolve his legal issues and to receive mental health support, and a £50 food voucher to allow him to survive until his appeal is hopefully reinstated.

Total needed £150This lady is a single parent to four teenage children, following the loss of her husband a number of years ago. She has recently had to move jobs, due to a change in circumstances involving one of her children. Total needed £150This woman, who was referred to us by partner agencies, has no recourse to public funds. Her son is sleeping in a travel cot, which a health visitor has deemed unsafe as it no longer suits his needs. Without access to public funds, mum cannot afford a toddler bed, mattress, or enough food. At St Vincent de Paul, we urgently seek your help to provide a bed, mattress and bedding for the child, as well, as well as a food parcel for the family to support them for a month. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £200This Ukrainian family have settled well into UK life, however, they have had trouble with their heating system leading to it being constantly running without producing heat. This has obviously led to a big bill, despite them paying a reasonable amount month by month. Their energy company has bent over backwards to help, but they have still been left with arrears which they are paying off. This money, if raised, will serve to help towards this, decreasing the pressure they are under currently.

Total needed £200C, who has been street homeless since 2019, came to us for support finding some warm clothing and food now that the weather is turning colder. We have been able to get some items donated from a local charity, however, he has very few items of clothing and they are very worn. C has no cooking facilities and no income so struggles to access food and is very malnourished. We are supporting him to find emergency housing, claim Universal Credit and to find work as this is his long term aim.

Total needed £200Our applicant is struggling for money to pay for gas and electric. The family, with three young children will be cut off or put into further debt in two days time. This will be repeated unless mum can put extra onto the account to clear arrears from last month when she was in the same position. Dad cannot work currently, due to poor physical health and mental illness. Mum just needs to clear the small amount of arrears so that she can keep the gas and electric on for the next few months.

Total needed £120This elderly, diabetic asylum seeker has been in the UK for thirteen years. Originally caring for her sister's children, she has suffered mistreatment. In a Local Authority hotel after rough sleeping, she lacks funds, cooking or washing facilities, and also needs diabetic appropriate food for the next few weeks, clothing and toiletries. Total needed £200J, who lives on her own and receives benefits, is subject to the benefit cap, due to high rent. She has managed to maintain her rent, but it leaves her with very little to live on and she has to use food banks for support. J has multiple health problems and is currently not putting her heating on as she can't afford to top-up, so is very cold. She isn't able to have a washing machine so has extra costs for this as well. Your support to assist her with a food voucher and heating would be really helpful to her.

Total needed £150IG, who has fallen on hard times, has mobility issues and, due to little contact with community, friends or family, faces isolation and struggles daily. A regular at our Newcastle centre, he comes for company, warmth, food and support. Often forced to choose between food and energy, IG would greatly benefit from an air-fryer. At £50, this appliance would let him cook meals affordably, using less energy than an oven. Your help would bring warmth, dignity and hope to IG during this challenging time.
