Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

N is a single parent living in an over-crowded house. One of the rooms was full of storage items which have now been emptied to make space for a bedroom. The child was sharing a bed, but now needs their own space, due to wetting the bed. Mum is on a low income and in debt, due to ex-partner, so is unable to get credit. N is struggling with depression and anxiety, due to the constant falling out of the kids. Please can you help them to get a single bed and bedding?

Total needed £100A is a single mum whose husband died a few years ago and she is raising her young daughter alone. English is not her first language and she is doing her best to work a few hours a week around her daughter's school hours, but has to claim benefits to help her get by too. A's washing machine recently broke and she has no money to pay for a replacement. Our church already supports her as best they can, but our furniture project doesn't cover white goods. Please can you help?

Total needed £200C has been living in temporary accommodation, but has just been offered a permanent flat of her own, however, it is unfurnished and she has no furniture or white goods of her own. C receives some benefits, but they only just cover her basic living costs and don't leave her much to save towards all the items she needs. She has been sourcing as much as she can from friends or Freecycle. C's most urgent need is for a bed so that she has somewhere to sleep.

Total needed £150J's landlord increased the rent on his property to a level that he could no longer afford, so he and his family had to leave their home. He has secured a new flat, but it is unfurnished. J has a low income and can't afford to purchase much. In particular, he doesn't have a bed for his 6 year old son. Due to the small size of the room his son will be in, a full-size bed won't fit, so he needs a futon-style bed to fit into the available space.

Total needed £150S is a single mother who is raising three young children. Living on benefits, she struggles to manage household expenses and meet her family’s needs. One essential item S lacks is a washing machine, which would make an enormous difference. This support would bring a vital tool for her family’s daily comfort and health, easing some of her financial burdens and giving her the ability to focus more on her kids' wellbeing. With your help, S can provide her children with a clean, comfortable home.

Total needed £200This young mother and her child, who have fled domestic abuse, have been in a safe refuge to recover and heal. Now they are going to be rehoused in social housing, but there are no white goods in the flat. Total needed £145H is a newly single parent to a child under the age of two. Her ex-partner has taken all the appliances out of the property, leaving her with no way to wash her child's clothes. Mum lives in a ninth floor flat, meaning making trips to the launderette is near impossible. She is resorting to washing the clothes in the bath. H is currently waiting for Universal Credit to change her claim to a single claim, however, at the moment the funds go to her ex-partner, leaving her with only child benefit in her name.

Total needed £200This gentleman, who was recently referred to us, moved into a property with his two children, but they have very limited furniture. Financial struggles are making it difficult for him to provide a comfortable home, and this challenge is taking an emotional toll. After his visit to the St Vincent de Paul centre, we are urgently seeking your help as the family is in need of a wardrobe, dining table and chairs. Any assistance toward this endeavour to create a stable and welcoming home environment would be deeply appreciated.

Total needed £200This lady works as a carer, but has had to take time off for cancer treatment. She was not paid during that time, but as she shares a house and, therefore, rent with a friend, she has managed to keep debt free. However, they do not have a washing machine and this lady finds washing by hand very strenuous. Your help to purchase a reconditioned washer will be such a help to her.

She has now moved into a council flat and needs a bed, mattress and bookcase for her son. E has not found work yet and so money is very tight. I have been able to find second-hand items. Please can you help? Many thanks.

Total needed £200This woman, who was referred to us by partner agencies, has no recourse to public funds. Her son is sleeping in a travel cot, which a health visitor has deemed unsafe as it no longer suits his needs. Without access to public funds, mum cannot afford a toddler bed, mattress, or enough food. At St Vincent de Paul, we urgently seek your help to provide a bed, mattress and bedding for the child, as well, as well as a food parcel for the family to support them for a month. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £200C, who is self-employed, is a single mum to her teenage son since his dad passed away in 2018. Mum recently had to have her gall bladder removed and is currently recovering from this surgery. This has, unfortunately, resulted in a limited capacity for work and obviously limited earnings. Last night her washing machine packed in. C is able to put some money towards replacing it, but would be grateful if donors could help her with the balance. She wants to avoid getting into debt.

Total needed £200This woman and her brother are struggling financially, sometimes going without food. They are unaware of available benefits, and she is suffering from severe depression, with her living conditions exacerbating her mental health. The flat is damp and mouldy. This woman is sleeping on the floor, and the situation is overwhelming, worsening her mental health. At St Vincent de Paul, we urgently seek your help with a single bed and a fridge to ease the pressure, whilst we collaborate other relevant agencies.

Total needed £200A, a care-leaver who has been living in supported housing, is moving into his own flat soon and requires resettlement support, such as access to amenities, making sure his housing benefits go through correctly and that he gets access to grants he may be entitled to. A is being supported as much as possible and is on Universal Credit, but is unable to buy items for his new place. Having had a chat with him, he said he would be so grateful for a table and chairs so he can study for college.

Total needed £150S was admitted to hospital after a fall resulting in spinal and rib fractures. She underwent fusion of the lumbar spine and was then discharged back to the place she recently moved into, which has no furniture. She has been sleeping on a broken air mattress, and uses a toaster and kettle for meal preparation. S receives Universal credit and is unable to buy white goods. She cannot shop or lift anything and relies on her son, brother and friends for support. She would appreciate your help to buy a washing machine.

Total needed £200Mum and her son moved into unfurnished temporary accommodation in September. This single parent is unable to work, due to mobility issues caused by neuropathic pain, bilateral sciatica and degenerative lumber spinal stenosis. The client uses the food bank, but it is difficult for her to carry heavy shopping on a regular basis. Mum would benefit from having a deep freezer to store items for longer periods, which would be less physically challenging and make economic sense. Thank you.

Total needed £200R, a recent Christians Against Poverty client, has recently become homeless, along with his partner and their teenage son. The parents are both dependent upon benefits, due to poor physical and mental health. They have managed to find a rented house, but require a new mattress for the double bed. They have struggled financially to make this new start, as they have had to provide many basic items to make the house liveable. It would be a real blessing if we could enable them to have a clean mattress on the bed.

Total needed £150Our applicant, who has multiple physical and mental health difficulties, recently lost her son, who was her only family support. Due to her mobility difficulties, she is being moved to a bungalow, but as she is on an extremely low income and doesn't have enough to live on, she is unable to afford any white goods. Our applicant's current washing machine has broken down and a replacement would be invaluable. Any donations to enable her to secure a new machine would be gratefully appreciated.
