£0 remaining for food and warm clothing
K was released from prison just before Christmas and was given just £96 to live on until his benefits payments are sorted out, which may take up to six weeks. He is currently homeless and spending much of his time out in the cold. We would like to provide him with supermarket gift cards so that he can buy food and also some warm clothing. Your help to assist K through this difficult time would be much appreciated.
S, a lone parent of a five year old, lost her place on a nursing course last year as she could not find childcare outside of 8am-6pm. She has no family support locally, having lost her grandmother just before Christmas, to whom she was very close, so she is forced to live on Universal Credit. S asked for a replacement phone, as hers broke some months ago and cannot be repaired. She cannot even access her bank account, which is with an online only bank.
K would appreciate help towards the cost of a new freezer, following her current one breaking down, so she can store food for her family of five. K has a disability that affects her mobility, making standing for too long difficult, so storing food in the freezer is more accessible then cooking from fresh every day. K relies on benefits which makes it very hard to save for large appliances and she needs some support to acquire such items.
T, who is moving into her first home with her son, who is a toddler, is also currently pregnant. She is working part-time, but struggles with hours due to childcare. Mum's main income is from Universal Credit and she has no savings. The house they are moving into is not carpeted and T urgently needs to put floor coverings down. Any help offered with the cost of carpet fitting would be amazing.
