Relieving pressure to buy a child's favourite food
Tamsin* is being supported by one of our partner Community Money Advice Centres, and was in need of a Debt Relief Order to help clear some debts that she had incurred from losing her benefits. Here is what the local Advocate said, as she requested help with the Debt Relief Order fee:
Tamsin sat and cried as she told me how her little boy loves strawberries and she went to buy him some, but realised at the checkout that she couldn't afford them. She was devastated at "letting him down." Tamsin has lost her disability benefits, has debt that she can't pay and a family who demand payment for childcare so she can work a few hours a week. Tamsin really needs a Debt Relief Order and has been trying to save the fee, but it isn't working - she can't even buy strawberries.
Acts 435 donors gave towards her need, and the local Advocate said:
Thank you! Tamsin's* Debt Relief Order is now submitted and the pressure of her debt has been relieved. I've told her to go buy strawberries this weekend to celebrate with her son. We are offering her some ongoing help and support which she is really grateful for and hoping that she will now be able to get back on her feet and get a fresh start. Thank you again for your gift to make a difference to Tamsin and her little boy.
