Help to continue healing
Sara* is a Christians Against Poverty client with one of our partner churches. She has Fybromyalgia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. She suffered complex trauma two years ago, and has had a very difficult life. Sara is bringing up 5 children alone, and had just finished four free sessions with a chronic pain therapist who helped her to begin to process the trauma, when the local Advocate posted a request to help Sara. The therapist helped Sara more than anyone has done previously, but her sessions had come to an end, and Sara couldn't afford any more due to her financial situation.
Acts 435 stepped in to help Sara with the remaining fees, and enabled her to continue the healing process that had begun.
On receiving these funds Sara said:
"I'd like to say thank you to Acts 435 for enabling me to continue with my counselling sessions. The last four years have been very traumatic for me. I eventually had a breakdown and it really took a toll on my mental and physical health. I just felt that no one could help me, even though I'd prayed and asked God to help me get better, sometimes I felt that God just wasn't listening to my cries. Through many referrals I finally was given a mentor/counsellor and I noticed within a few sessions that I was finally getting somewhere and receiving more understanding of my traumatic experiences. Then to be told that the sessions had ended, I felt lost, upset and abandoned. So I want to give you the biggest thank you for helping me with this. I still struggle, but I know that God is listening and helping me to get better, and has blessed me through such an amazing organisation. Thank you for having the compassion, empathy and love to help me, even though you don't know me. I will never forget this blessing that you've blessed me with. May God continue to bless this organisation and the people (like me), you help lift up.”
