A new cooker for a new start

Abdul*, from Newcastle, was recently granted his refugee status, and was given a place to call home. He needed quite a few items to furnish his property, but one he couldn't afford was a cooker. Acts 435 donors stepped in to help him with this cost, and enabled him to start his life afresh.

On receiving this Abdul wrote:

"I recently received my refugee status. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation towards providing me with a cooker for my new rented flat. Your act of kindness has touched my heart and significantly impacted my life. Moving to a new country, as an asylum seeker, has presented numerous challenges. Still, thanks to the support of compassionate individuals like yourselves, I have found accommodation that offers me a safe and comfortable environment to start rebuilding my life. Your donation of a cooker has not only fulfilled a practical need, but has also given me a sense of stability and hope for the future.

Having a functional cooker in my new flat means more than just the ability to prepare meals, it symbolises a fresh start in a place where I can create a sense of belonging and warmth. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and for making a positive difference in my life."
