Give Another Gift this Christmas

With nearly a quarter of individuals facing poverty this Christmas could you Give Another Gift to someone who needs it most?

In November 2024 the Social Metrics Commission reported that nearly 1 in 4 people (24%) in the UK are judged to be experiencing poverty. Our friends at Let's End Poverty have explored this report further, and you can read their findings here.

We're part of the Let's End Poverty campaign, which is speaking out and campaigning for change. However, we know that change isn't going to come quickly and with so many people in poverty this Christmas is going to be a struggle.

As well as those who are experiencing poverty there are many who will also struggle this Christmas due to situations such as facing hardship due to losing income, waiting for benefits, or just facing a crisis that they're unable to afford.

Every Christmas we ask you to support an individual, and Give Another Gift to someone who needs it most. This Christmas is no different, and more important than ever as we look at the statistics that suggest many will go without the basics of living, let alone presents for children or a warm meal this Christmas time.

Each gift that is given through our website this Christmas, whether it's a washing machine, the fee for a passport, or warm clothing for a child, each and every gift will bring joy and peace to the recipients this Christmas, and we hope an opportunity to share the gift that Jesus gives:

“I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." John 14:27

We hope that many of our local Advocates will be able to share the Good News of Jesus, and the Christmas story, as they support individuals with Acts 435 requests this Christmas. To enable them to do this we have created a simple gift tag that they can attach to items, or share electronically with recipients.

If you can Give Another Gift this Christmas, and support someone in poverty, facing hardship or crisis, and bring them peace and joy, take a look at the needs on our website.

Last year we saw all of the requests for help on our website met by Christmas Eve, and we're praying that we're able to do this again in 2024.

Finally, we want to remind you of the peace that can be given through a gift given at Christmas time:

This family was in need of support, which was provided through an Acts 435 request. Here is the message that was sent through by the Advocate following their request being met:

This is Sophie*'s message to you: "Thank you so much for your help, I can finally have a peaceful Christmas with my little family. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas." Thank you for giving this family peace this Christmas - that is what we always long for at Christmas isn't it? You've enabled that to happen for this family. Thank you.
