£200 remaining for supplying and fitting a living room carpet
C is a single mum who has fled domestic violence and has been given a flat after being homeless, but is waiting for her benefits to be processed. She needs a carpet for the living room, which has a concrete floor and mum is worried that the little one will fall and bang their head. This would cause stress, as her ex-partner would accuse her of neglect if he found out. The family cannot help as they are struggling themselves.
Mum works part-time and has two children. She just didn't know where to turn to for help when her fridge freezer suddenly stopped working, and one of her colleagues signposted her to us. Mum feels very ashamed to ask for help, as she is working and trying to get by, but I have explained that even people who are working are really struggling. This didn't ease her guilt, but she was overcome with emotion when I explained how Acts 435 works. Mum then told me she lives from pay to pay with no room for error.
Our client, I, is twenty eight years old and a mum to two children. She works part-time around the school hours, as she feels It's important to teach the children a good work ethic, plus working gives her a sense of independence. Universal Credit pays her rent and tops-up her wages, but this still leaves little left for household items. Mum has no wardrobes for the children and really struggles for storage, causing chaos in the bedroom. She has asked for support with a wardrobe and small chest of drawers. Please can you help?
This lady and her two daughters have lived in a one bedroom flat for almost two years. They have now been given a two bedroom flat, however, there is no flooring at the new place and they do not have the means to buy any, as the girls are in college and mum is working part-time. She always pays her bills, even going without in order to do so. We have been able to source the flooring for free, but need help with the cost of fitting. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
