V is heavily pregnant and although she works she has no access to public funds so her income is limited, so she is unable to purchase a tumble dryer herself. As the weather is getting colder her clothes are taking much longer to dry on an airer, and she can't afford to use the local launderette as she is trying to buy the things she needs for her baby's arrival.
