£200 remaining for a fridge freezer
C and the family are struggling financially and in debt due to rising fuel bills and the cost of living. Their fridge freezer was second-hand and lasted many years, but has stopped freezing and cannot be repaired. The family cannot afford to shop locally everyday as costs are tremendous at corner shops. Half-term is coming up so the children won’t get hot meals at school and will only have a sandwich for tea at home. The family is on a low income, therefore is unable to buy in bulk or cook and freeze fresh food.
My client is a single man who was previously homeless and subject to a violent attack. His subsequent physical and mental health problems mean he is not able to work and he is living on a low income. My client is relying on electric heaters to heat his home, dry his clothes and reduce the damp in his flat. However, he is struggling to afford to keep his electricity meter topped up. Providing a dehumidifier would help reduce the damp and dry his clothes at a lower cost.
M, who is living on her own and is struggling with ill health, regularly attends hospital appointments and has to use a taxi for transport, as she has no immediate family to help transport her. Although M has tried to keep the cost low, it's been a challenge to keep up with her gas and electric top bill and, being of ill health, she has had to keep the home warm to help her recovery. M really needs help to top-up her gas and electric to enable her keep warm in her home during this season.
P is a single dad who is on a low income and is currently sleeping on the floor on a blow-up bed which is punctured. He needs a sofa bed as he sleeps downstairs and the sofa they had was in poor condition and needed to go to the tip. The present accommodation is overcrowded and he is waiting for a bigger house. P, who is stressed and in debt, due to rising costs, had to get a loan to buy gas, electric and food until his benefits were processed.
