£190 remaining for a fridge freezer
S, a single parent who is struggling with the cost of living, is unable to work, due to ill health. Her fridge broke a few months ago, leaving her unable to safely store food. Consequently, a lot of her food goes off and she is having to spend more money on ready meals, as she can’t store food. Any support in getting a new fridge would save S in food costs each week. We've supported her with emergency fuel top-ups and food parcels.
L has three young children who share a bedroom. Currently, the children have no storage in their bedroom, so it is very difficult to keep their clothes tidy and clean. Mum would really like to be able to get some wardrobes and chests of drawers so that she can keep their room tidy. However, L is not currently able to work and her Universal Credit only just covers daily living costs, so she is not able to save towards anything.
This refugee family from Afghanistan has been given accommodation in Leeds, following a successful application for leave to remain, but the house is empty of any appliances or furniture. As they are not yet working, the family asks for help with £200 to purchase a used fridge freezer and delivery. This would make it possible for them to not shop every day, and reduce the risk of illness, due to no proper storage. Please can you help them in their quest to settle well?
P suffers with mental health problems and has been unfit for work for over four years. After spending time in supported accommodation, P and her two young children have now moved into their own property. Mum has little to furnish and equip her home, and would be grateful for help to buy a washing machine. She receives Universal Credit, but is struggling to meet her everyday living costs so there is no way she could afford this herself. Your support would be a real blessing for P and her family.
