N is a single parent and suffers from depression. Her cooker has broken. She has applied to Universal Credit for an advanced payment but has been told that because she has a mortgage and doesn’t claim Housing Benefit she cannot have help with household items. She claims Universal Credit and is awaiting a Personal Independence Plan assessment. Due to paying off other debt and having to do repairs to the house she has not been able to save any money and cannot afford a cooker.
J is a single dad on very low income and struggling financially. His eleven year old daughter has moderate learning difficulties and is mad about football. The school she is about to start at have special football sessions, but this comes at a cost and dad just cannot find the funds to pay for this. His daughter would benefit physically and emotionally from being in a team, and improve her confidence. Please can you help?
C is a single lady who lost her only child a while ago. She has been struggling with ill health and been unable to work. Due to this, C has fallen short on her gas and electric bill as she needs to keep warm at the moment. She is getting better now, but has been advised to go back to work on a part-time basis. C is now worried that she will not be able to sort the arrears from her utility bill. She needs support for the debt, as well as bus tickets to get her to work for this month until she gets her next payment.
MO is rough sleeping as he has had a tricky immigration situation that means he has not been able to access benefits or housing for years. He has finally been approved for pre-settled status and can now apply for a driving licence and look for work. Unfortunately, MO’s benefits will still take a while to resolve. Because of this, he would like to apply for some funding to help him get his driving licence, as this will be a step in the right direction for him to resolve his homelessness.
