£0 remaining for a gas cooker
L is a single parent to four young children. The family has been homeless and living in emergency accommodation, due to domestic violence. They have now been rehoused into completely unfurnished accommodation, so are desperate for a gas cooker. They have been supported by Children's Services, and the church has helped with other household essentials, but mum has no savings to furnish her new home. L, who suffers with mental health issues, due to the domestic violence, is currently unable to work and is dependent on benefits.
N, an elderly lady who is originally from Ghana, was recently widowed and is now living alone with no relatives. She is a retired nurse and is living on her pension with little savings, so is struggling to pay the bills. N lives in an old house which is in need of modernisation and her very old fridge freezer has irreparably broken. This lady has a special diet, due to health issues, and is anxious about how she can manage this without a working fridge freezer.
L, her husband and their two young children have been living in temporary accommodation after being made homeless through no fault of their own. They have now secured a new home in The Midlands to be near family support, as both children have additional needs and the parents are struggling. The family are on benefits and have no savings, as all money has been spent on daily survival in their temporary home. They need to hire a van to move belongings to new home.
R is a single mum of three children who usually works in a care home. She is currently on maternity leave, but has been abandoned by the father of her baby and doesn't have access to public funds. R has insufficient money to cover even her rent, but particularly needs to continue to insure her car so that she can get her kids to school. Mum is unlikely to be able to return to work until January, due to health concerns, and would greatly appreciate any support she can get to pay key bills in the meantime.
