£0 remaining for an electricity top-up
S is a young single lady who is working a zero hours contract. She has been very unwell the last two months and her pay was only just enough to cover her rent. S has nothing left to top-up her electricity for the next two weeks until she receives some Universal Credit. She needs to work from home, but can't work unless she has power, and the cycle of low pay will continue. S is trying to get out of this cycle and needs an extra helping hand to get back on her feet. Please could you help her?
J, who has recently had a relationship breakdown, recently lost their mum, resulting in homelessness. With nowhere else to go and without access to benefits, these funds will allow for safe emergency accommodation for five nights in a hotel while figuring out the next necessary steps.
Until last year, this lady was living independently, working, and caring for her adult son who has Asperger's. Then her world changed when she collapsed with a brain aneurysm. Mum spent months in hospital and is now having to learn to walk and look after herself again. She has a small flat, gets help from debt support, and has deliveries of frozen meals. As this lady has no space to store these meals, she would really love a small freezer so she can eat well without the stress of having to ask for help with shopping.
S was made homeless due to a relationship breakdown & received support from a local homeless charity, Beacon House, and was referred to Colchester Engagement and Next steps for temporary accommodation. Since then, S has strived to rebuild her life and has been given the opportunity to live independently in sheltered accommodation. She recently moved in with few belongings and is requesting support to purchase a cooker so she can begin to enjoy the everyday activities that many take for granted.
