G is an asylum seeker who has been with us here in Lancaster for a few months. He is still without a phone, which is very distressing for him as he can’t communicate with his family or solicitor. It is very difficult for him to access any online English class materials or other information. It would make such a difference for G to have a phone. Thank you for any help you can offer.
O, who is fifty years old, has come to the UK from Nigeria and is applying for a humans rights visa in order to stay here. She is an internationally trained social worker and, to be able to work professionally in the UK and register as a social worker, needs an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) certificate in English at level 7, but she only has level 6.5. The cost of level 7 is £220. O has just had spinal surgery and is not working at the moment, but is being supported by her church and food bank.
MY and TE, a married couple with a newborn baby, are refugees and have been through the homeless system for years. They have recently moved into their own flat and had their baby, but are struggling to afford furniture. They only have basic furniture, but nothing to store their clothes in and no sofa to sit on. MY and TE feel that these will help make their flat a home and make it comfortable for raising their baby. Whilst TE is looking for a job, they do not have any money to afford these items.
A is an asylum seeker who studies really hard to improve his English. Due to health reasons, he can’t access classes in person, and it would help him enormously to have his own laptop so that he can study online, do homework and access other helpful information online. Thank you so much for helping A mentally and improving his life quality by making it possible to purchase a second-hand laptop for him.
