L is a single mum of two young children and is on benefits. She was renting privately but the landlord has requested that they leave the property, so L has had to move in with her mum in her two bedroom flat. They have now been housed by the local housing association in a flat which needs completely furnishing. We have managed to get her a sofa and microwave with help from the Salvation Army, but desperately need to get beds for her and the children. Their only income at present is Child Tax Credit & Benefit, and they have applied for Universal Credit. Please help this family.
S is a single mum to a pre-school child and has just been moved from temporary accommodation to permanent accommodation. The council had promised to give her a cooker from another house which was empty, but someone else was allocated the house with the cooker, and now there are no funds left to pay for a cooker for S. All she has is a microwave which is not suitable for the food she has received from our food bank. She is at risk of making both her and her child ill by not cooking food properly.
C and her partner have 4 children, the youngest is 5 weeks old. They live from benefit payment to benefit payment and have absolutely no spare money at all. Their washing machine is broken beyond repair and they are desperate for a replacement with all the washing needs of a family of 6. The health visitor is very concerned, they urgently need this help.
J is a single Dad bringing up his teenage daughter alone. They have finally been moved from temporary to permanent accommodation. He supports them with his part-time work and has had to find funds for all the basic needs to set up their new home. They are really struggling to pay for even the basic items and cannot afford to buy a desperately needed washing machine.
