Our client is a survivor of domestic abuse from her family. She has recently been supported to flee the family home and has managed to secure a tenancy at an unfurnished Housing Association property. She is in the process of applying for Universal Credit and housing benefit and has no money to purchase any furniture or white goods. She is vulnerable, stressed and scared. She is getting support from a domestic abuse programme and would benefit from any support to help maintain her new life.
This lady has recently moved back to the area after many years away. She is struggling to make new friends and feels very isolated. I got to know her through a lunch club that the foodbank runs. Her husband works and she is the carer for their 2 very young children. The washing machine broke the same week as the car needed very expensive repairs and there is just no money left. She is desperate for a washing machine, new or second hand, as she is potty training her eldest.
This family of 5 have the opportunity to move to a bigger house, but they will need to replace their gas cooker with an electric one. They are currently working with Christians Against Poverty to repay their debts, and can't afford to replace the cooker by themselves. Thank you for your support.
This young woman has recently moved from supported accommodation into her own flat. Gaining a new found independence, she moved with not many items and would like to start afresh, with items to make her new place a home. She is currently in receipt of Universal credit and is looking into work and volunteering in new things and ventures. This would help feel a new start has begun for her in her new adventure.
This lady is a single parent, who of necessity can only work part time. She is in discussions with Christians Against Poverty with a view to help manage her debts. She is on a limited income and struggling with debt, so it is difficult to meet any one off expenses. Her vacuum cleaner has broken down and is irreparable. We shall be grateful for any support that can be given to enable her to obtain a new vacuum.
This lady and her partner have 6 children. Her partner has a lung disorder and cannot work. They have been through an initial discussion with our local Christians Against Poverty centre regarding finances. They do not have a telephone and find it difficult to make contact with anyone outside their immediate vicinity. It would make their lives much better if they could each obtain a cheap mobile phone on a pay as you go basis. We would welcome any support.
Dad is trying to prioritise making his home a cleaner and nicer place to live for himself and his teenage daughter. Their washing machine has recently broken which is not helping with their efforts to maintain their home. Can you help towards the cost of a washing machine?
This man finds himself in desperate circumstances. He has just been released from prison and has nothing. No support has been given to him and he is now making a claim for universal credit, which means he is not eligible for a welfare grant until the benefit is in payment. A local charity has provided him with an electric cooker, but at the moment he is sleeping on the floor. He desperately needs a single bed and can get one for £120. Any help with this would be really appreciated.
