We were approached by a Social Housing provider after this lady arrived fleeing domestic violence (DV). She had to leave her job after nine years and is applying for Universal Credit. The children's dad (not the DV perpetrator) lives quite far away and has parental responsibility for the children every other weekend. Mum doesn't drive and needs to pay for the children to visit their dad but is struggling to do so until her Universal Credit payments come through. Please can you help this lady in a very stressful situation?
This request was made by a Young Parents Support Worker regarding a young woman who has fled domestic abuse and is currently in a refuge. She has two small children and has been given a flat which she hopes to move into within the next two weeks. She desperately needs funds to purchase items of furniture as she has nothing since she fled. Her Universal Credit claim will not start properly until next month. Your help will be invaluable.
