H has multiple health issues including diabetes and high blood pressure. Unaware of how the benefits system works he applied for disability benefits all by himself many months ago. He is now receiving help from his local MP and a welfare adviser, but he may still have to wait another 12 weeks for a decision. Meanwhile with his basic Universal Credit allowance he is not able to cover his bills, afford some fresh healthy food, pay for transport to medical appointments and other basic necessities.
