Acts 435 Giving to anyone who has need

Poverty and Homelessness Action Week 2012 runs from 29th January to 5th February. It is jointly organised by Church Action on Poverty, Housing Justice and Scottish Churches Housing Action. Many of our requests are for individuals who have recently been housed sometimes after years living on the streets. Acts 435 provides a great opportunity for people to help these vulnerable adults in practical ways.

We have a number of participating churches that are working with people struggling with homelessness and many churches are key in helping these people in the process of being rehoused. Such circumstances often mean that someone may have somewhere to live but have absolutely nothing in the house. We have had requests fulfilled where individuals who have been homeless for years are provided with a bed, kitchen appliances or flooring.

So this year to mark poverty and homelessness action week, why not take action and help one of the following individuals:

  • a man in Bradford who just needs rent in advance to enable him to get off the streets and move into housing:
  • a lady in Nottingham needing a fridge freezer for her 1st flat about being homeless for 5 years:
  • a man in Middlesbrough with no way of cooking in his first place after being homeless:
  • another lady in Nottingham who needs a washing machine. She has health problems and is in her first flat afer 12 years living on the streets:

Thank you for your consideration of these requests.
