HITS 800 - as York celebrates 800 years

Acts 435 has set an exciting target in this special year for the City of York, where Acts 435 has its Head Office and where the vision came to life ... 800 requests posted by 6th July 2012. We are optimistic we can do it and our patron, the Archbishop of York, is hosting a special reception at General Synod in York to celebrate Acts 435's achievements.
2012 is a momentous year. Not only is it our Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, but the City of York is celebrating 800 years as a self-governed city. As the city celebrates we too have reasons to celebrate our on-going growth both in numbers and geographically. But we thought setting our own target would make it all a bit more exciting. After a slow but steady start we are seeing a lot more churches getting involved in Acts 435 and posting requests for people in need in their local area.
As the effects of the double-dip recession and cuts manifest themselves in many different ways, is it any surprise we are seeing an increase in cries for help? Whilst we wish the need wasn't there, we praise God for the opportunity to be a source of fast, financial help for those who so desperately need it.
So our challenge is to hit our 800th request by 6 July 2012 to chime in with York's weekend celebrations of its Royal Charter. Number 600 was posted on 28th March so we have every chance of hitting our target. And the best news is that this translates into many more people helped by Acts 435!
