Acts 435 Giving to anyone who has need

I bring you news of great joy that will be for all the people. Luke 2:10

We've had some snow and cold weather here in York over the last week, and our three boys were so happy to be charging about in the snow and throwing snowballs. As parents it's wonderful to see your children so joyful (even if you're frozen cold!), which reminded me of the simple things that bring families joy. Last week our Christmas campaign focused on bringing joy to families, and for families, that are living in poverty or on a low income, it is often the basic necessities that bring the greatest joy. Please do pray for families at this time of year, which can be a very pressured season for those struggling financially, and that as a charity we can help to meet some of the basic needs that will bring joy and hope to them.

This month we're very thankful to God for:

  • A fantastic time at the Jubilee+ conference in November. It was wonderful to connect with lots of churches who all have a heart for poverty in the UK, and also network with similar organisations. Please do pray as we seek to cement some of these relationships.
  • A link with with The Neighbourhood Prayer Network who are featuring us in their resource for churches. The resource is for churches and individuals who want to be a blessing to their community this Christmas: https://www.neighbourhoodprayer.net/projects/together-at-christmas/
  • Some brilliant connections with Caritas, which is a Catholic charity that helps to implement and support social action and poverty relief in their local churches. Please pray that this connection bears fruit on a local and national level.
  • An opportunity to share our work with Transforming Lives for Good (TLG), and particularly their Make Lunch clubs and Early Intervention Programme. Please pray that many of their churches will feel encouraged to partner with Acts 435 to see needs met with those that they connect with.
  • The 618 individuals and families who have been helped by Acts 435 Advocates and donors with£78,325distributed in November, which is even more important during this season.

Please pray for our Christmas Campaign:

  • Our Christmas Campaign; "The Gift of Giving" began at the start of Advent. We are encouraging churches to share our work with some brand new leaflets like the one above - please pray that many churches will take on the challenge of sharing this campaign with their congregations, and that as a result we might welcome many new donors.
  • Our Christmas Campaign is also running on social media. There is a lot of opportunity to meet many requests for help through our social media over December, so please pray that our posts get noticed and that donors, old and new, will feel encouraged to click on the links to donate.
  • All the requests on our website to be met before Christmas, so that we can bless as many people who are in poverty or facing hardship during this season.

Please also pray for:

  • Our ongoing conversations with the Diocese of Winchester who are keen to see many churches partner with us, but also highlight our work throughout their Generous June appeal in 2022.
  • Both our local Advocates and us as a Head Office Team. At this time of year we're very aware that the needs of those in poverty still exist, and in many ways the needs are exacerbated by the season. Both our Advocates and Team still want to continue to serve and help those who need it. However, it is important that we all get time to rest, celebrate and enjoy our time with our loved ones too. Please pray that we can all find a balance at this busy time of year.
  • Our Head Office Team as we have more staff changes. We will be welcoming a new Administrator in January, and so please pray that they will settle in well and that the transition goes smoothly for the whole team.
