Meet the Team - Katie Greene, Communications Officer

I'm Katie, I am married to Ben and have three very energetic boys who are 5, 3 and nearly 1. We attend Gateway Church in Acomb, York and serve in many different capacities but are due to begin a new Saturday morning group for Dads shortly.
After leaving University, many years ago, I had one of those serendipitous God moments and began working at Christians Against Poverty (CAP) as a caseworker; creating budgets and negotiating on behalf of those in debt. I managed a team of caseworkers, and then moved into the Communications department working with supporters. I worked for CAP for around 7 years, including maternity leave, and loved everything about it. Not only is it a great place to work, but seeing people released from debt and come to know Jesus literally every day is an amazing thing to do. However, when I went on my second maternity leave I decided not to return to work there - I didn't want a long commute, and had always wanted to be a mum at home. Which is what I did!
I really enjoy being at home with my children, even if they do sometimes send you a challenge! But once you've got a passion for something it never really leaves, and my passion for working for a charity that reaches those in need didn't stop. This is where Acts 435 came in, with another serendipitous God moment! I was fortunate enough to be asked to cover Rhona's maternity leave and so I began working for Acts 435 when my second child was one year old. I began by sending out the wonderful 'thank you' messages to our donors amongst other things, and when Rhona returned there was a need to keep the extra work hours, and me!
I've been very privileged to work alongside both Jenny and Rhona (who you will get to meet soon), and helping our Advocates to directly reach those in need in their communities. I am currently working as the Communications Officer part-time - managing the social media pages, as well as sending out communications to our Advocates and donors. It is very exciting and encouraging to see just how churches and charities are impacting their local communities through Acts 435 donations.
I cannot wait to see what God has in store for Acts 435 in 2019, and beyond, and I am very grateful to be a part of it.
