Acts 435 Giving to anyone who has need

Starting from today, the Archbishop of York’s online giving charity, Acts 435, is setting out to support 40 people, offering them a fresh start in time for Easter Sunday.

Acts 435 works through local churches and charities who are helping people in poverty to move forwards with their lives. Acts 435 has been able to provide rent deposits for people trying to get off the streets, household goods for women fleeing domestic violence and setting up afresh, and many debt relief order fees to release people from the crippling burden of debt.

Executive Director Jenny Herrera said: “This is an exciting time for Acts 435 with unprecedented growth. We’ve just helped our 10,000th
person. Now Easter gives us an opportunity, as we think of the message of hope and new life, to give many people in our country a fresh start. We know a small gift can make a big difference”.

The 10,000th person helped was an example of someone being given a fresh start. Wayne in London had been out of work for two years. After support through the local church’s job club, he got a job in catering but needed to supply his own steel-capped boots along with his own chef’s jacket and trousers. Acts 435 provided the funds to purchase all these items and get Wayne back into work.

To get involved, please consider supporting the requests in our Easter Appeal https://acts435.org.uk/give/fresh-start/all-regions/ and help spread the word by using the hashtag #freshstart on Twitter.
