H was referred initially through Domestic Violence team, she is now working with CAB worker to get permanently rehoused and reduce debts. This money will help reduce her council rent arrears to a level that will allow her to be put back on the council housing list.
M lives alone with her 10 year old blind daughter. She has debts and is barely managing household bills. She has been trying without success to be rehoused by the council. Her divan bed became infested with (now dead) mice. Her landlord will reimburse the cost of extermination but that still leaves her with a bed base full of decomposing rodents. She w ants to replace it with a new, or decent second hand, base.
S moved to York following a break up with her children's father. She was given council accommodation but it needs many things to make it a home. Some items have been donated by other charities but the floors in the house are bare and this grant request is to help towards carpets and floor-covering. Although S has rheumatoid arthritis she was working before the move and is looking for employment. Leaving his father has had an adverse effect on her son and we are trying to help her with that also.
Hannah is a single Mum with 4 young children. She has been struggling for a while to make ends meet and is now confronted with the spare room subsidy problem, as a result of which she could be facing eviction. She has turned to the Citizens Advice Bureau for help. and they have advised a Debt Relief Order as the only solution. Hannah would be very grateful for a donation for the fee and seems prepared to accept advice on how to get her ongoing finances back on track.
